The equipment I use is all modern, carefully maintained and compact. Not only do I not want to be loading and carrying endless amounts of gear from my vehicle to the venue, I don’t want my system to look too cluttered with copious bits of equipment. Sometimes the saying “Less is more” rings very true. I like my set up to look very neat and tidy. This keeps all cables and cases concealed and out of sight. I have taken time to make the front view of my rig aesthetically pleasing to eye.
I only use smoke machines as and when required, (with the introduction of the “smoking ban” many venues refuse them) so if you would like to have one please tick the box when enquiring. Please check with your venue before you order one. I do not own a bubble machine as I find they tend to make the dancefloor very slippy and dangerous.
My sound system will generate 1000w of continuous power, which is more than enough for most venues and parties. The sound system is provided by JBL for the speakers and Crown for the amplifier. These are two of the best manufacturers in the business.
Music is currently being played through Numark dual CD players and an American Audio Mixer. If you need a microphone for speaches and toasts I use a Sennheiser hand held radio mic. Once again I only bring this if requested.
For my lighting system, the lights are supplied by Acme and Kam with a Soundlab lighting desk. All my lights are intelligent and DMX controlled.
You may find that most DJ’s neglect to light themelves up. I find people like to see their DJ working hard behind the decks, so, I have lights strategically positioned to enable me to be seen by all the groovers on the dancfloor (this also helps me see what I am doing.)!
